Young Voices Toronto awarded grant from Ontario Arts Council
Young Voices Toronto (YVT) is pleased to announce that the choir has been awarded a grant from the Ontario Arts Council (OAC). YVT applied to the OAC for funding this past spring. The $13,311 grant supports the operating costs of the 2017-18 season.
“We’re delighted and extremely grateful to the Ontario Arts Council for this funding,” said Shannon Charnock, General Manager. “Without this support, our choir wouldn’t be able to provide the high-quality choral music education and opportunities to our choristers that we are known for.”
“This is great news to start the season,” said Kate McLoughlin, Chair of the Board. Catherine West, Board Director and former music teacher with the Toronto District School Board, echoed McLoughlin’s sentiments: “This is wonderful news, and a credit to [Charnock] personally as well as the full team [of board and staff]”.
The OAC received 67 requests for funding in the Music: Operating Grants stream, and awarded a total of $3,146,736 in funds among the applicants. Established in 1963, the OAC fosters the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians.
